What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Northlake Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise.  God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom,  justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Jesus

God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself.

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit was sent to empower, bring comfort, strengthen and guide each believer in Christ.  To enable each person live out and serve the purposes of His church.

Mankind

Humans, both male and female, were lovingly created in God's image for the intention of relationship with Him.

Sin

All mankind has sinned and therefore separated from a relationship with our Holy God. The payment for that sin is death.

Eternity

Man was created to exist forever.  He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation.  To be eternally separated from God is Hell.  To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven.  Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.

Salvation

Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life and no one can have true relationship with God the Father without accepting this truth. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Him. "That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

The Church

The Church is made up of those that follow Jesus Christ as Lord, and meant to be the visible manifestation and representation of Christ.  The church exist primarily for the sake of those who are outside of Gods Grace and forgiveness, but also exists for the equipping, empowering and encouragement of the believer.

Jesus Return

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth. His return is promised and imminent.
